The Silkmen were reduced to rags as City's in form high scorers put FIVE past Macclesfield. Jason Bowen, Scott Young (2) and Rob Earnshaw (2) were the thorns in Macclesfield's side at the Moss Rose today.

Jason Bowen was the player to cause early problems for the Macclesfield defence, after only 4 minutes he beat the offside trap and cooly finished past the keeper. Macclesfield were back in it after 8 mins when Kevin Keen fired home from the edge of the box. Macclesfield had the better of the play until just before half time. Scott Young stooped low to head home an Andy Legg corner after Bullcok in the Macclesfield goal missed the ball while under pressure. 2 - 1 to Cardiff at half time.

Those who ambled back to the terrace after the half time break would have missed Young's second and City's third Scot scored again from 4 yards. This time an Andy Legg throw in caused confusion in the box, the ball bounced off Bullock and Young was there to score.

No sooner had the game kicked off and City were at it again, Rob Earnshaw stole infront of Young who was poised to score a hat trick but it was Earnies goal.

What a start to the second half, now it was 4 - 1 and only 49 mins on the clock. Macclesfield were next to score after 55 mins. Tracey pulled one back for the home team to make it 4 -2.

Macclesfield again put pressure on City, they hit the woodwork more than once but it was Earnie who stole the show. City broke and Rob calmly slotted past Bullock on 83 mins.

City spurned good chances with Leo going close in the first half and Josh Low firing over late in the second.

But no matter who you play, if you are scoring goals with a passion like we are you will beat anybody.

Great news from Exeter with ther Grecians beating Brighton 1 - 0. City now go second.

Andrew Jordan started the game but was replaced on 14 mins by Rhys Weston after a knock to his head, Scott Young wnet off hurt and was replaced by Josh Low. City's final substitution was Scott McCulloch for Kevin Evans. Strikers Gavin Gordan and Paul Brayson were the unused subs, not bad eh, two players with nearly 20 goals between them this season stay on the bench and we still score 5.
