3 Cardiff City players from the Wales U21 squad have been dropped for breaking a curfew in Armenia. Rhys Weston, Lee Kendall and Kevin Evans along with Stephen Evans of Crystal Palace were late returning the team hotel after a night out last Friday. Coach Jimmy Shoulder has punished the boys by dropping them from the squad for tomorrows game against the Ukraine.

Report from www.bbc.co.uk/wales
Rhys Weston, Lee Kendall and Kevin Evans - all of Cardiff City - and Stephen Evans of Crystal Palace, have been dropped from the Wales under-21 squad to face Ukraine on Tuesday.

Manager Jimmy Shoulder has disciplined the four - with the full backing of senior coach Mark Hughes - after breaking a curfew following a 1-0 defeat to Armenia under-21s on Friday.

Weston, who has one senior Welsh cap and Stephen Evans were the only two to play in that game.

Shoulder said: "It is not a question of being hard. All too often sanctions are in place for breaches of the rules but are not carried out.

"My style of operating is fairly low key and based on player responsibility, but there is no point in having these sanctions in place and then not implementing them."

The under-21 coach added a conciliatory note by saying he hoped the episode would be a "salutary" lesson to his youngsters.

Neil Gibson of Sheffield Wednesday; Ryan Valentine and Michael Price of Everton and Paul Whitfield of Wrexham have been called up as replacements.
