600 or so City fans are heading to Vale Park for tonights clash. City have only line up with Port Vale 7 times in the league in the last 81 years and only once have we won there. 12th October 1946, City won 4 - 0.

City will make two forced changes for tonights game. Peter Thorne is out with a hamstring injury though its possible he could be fit for Saturday after initially being ruled out for up to 6 weeks.

Michael Simpkins is also injured and the time scale for his recovery is not yet fully known but its weeks rather than days.

Alan Cork has not yet named his strating XI but it is thought that Gavin Gordon will replace Thorne and Andy Legg will replace Simpkins but Cork has other options. He said

"I have options in both positions. Leo Fortune-West has been passed fit after carrying a sore ankle for a week and he is more of an outright target man than Gavin Gordon.

"At left-back I could move Daniel Gabbidon from the centre and bring in Scott Young. They are choices to be made undefined and decisions I will make after talking to the other coaches."

City are currently 15th in the table. Last nights games left City unchanged in position and a win tonight would see us jump upto 11th and still have games in hand and virtually all the teams above us. Brentford are top with 31 points from 14 games. Brighton and Bristol City are 2nd and 3rd. Cardiff have 17 points from 12 games.
