The proposed move for Stoke City's Peter Thorne is now being slugged out in the newspapers. Neither club have officially commented on the deal on their websites but there are quotes from both managers in the newspapers.

The latest would be that City are not prepared to be held to ransom on the fee. City have offered Stoke £1.3m and Alan Cork says

"The Thorne deal is dead and buried. It's up to the boy and the club to decide what they want to do. Stoke have turned down the offer and we haven't spoken to the player because it wouldn't be right. Some clubs want more money for players than they are worth. We will not be held to ransom."

Stoke boss Gudjon Thordarson says the player is going nowhere unless the bid is increased. Thordarson has already accused City of "throwing bombs" into in his preparations.

Only thing for sure with all this going on is that we know nothing. The move is in the balance. I can see there being more speculation as well, especially with the news that Wigan are now interested in Thorne as well.

Like with other transfer speculation in the past wait until it becomes official before you fully beleive it.
