Cardiff's great win at Swindon yesterday left City feeling very upbeat and obviously Swindon feeling a bit down.

City first, Alan Cork was hoping that this result could be the start of a good run for City. (He gets the Carlisle score wrong at the end though, we drew 2 - 2.)

"We played some good football but we've played well in the last four games. We've played only one bad game this season, at Cambridge.

"Have we turned the corner? I don't know. You turn the corner when you've won three or four games on the bounce.

"This is a good result, but I would have been happy with 1-0. We've been threatening to score goals in most of our games. Look at our last game against Wigan. We drew 2-2 but should have won 5-2.

"We scored goals, passed the ball well and we also kept a clean sheet, but there's still a long way to go.

"We're still making little errors. We've got a few inexperienced players but eventually it will come right. It's going to click.

"Who knows, maybe things will change for us after this. A year ago we beat Carlisle 2-0 and we went on to achieve promotion. It could be deja vu."

City coach Ian Butterworth told the Clubs official website

“We are delighted today, I mean the boys played very well, especially after Friday night’s disappointment at drawing against Wigan.

“Today everybody responded very well and to come here today and win by three clear goals is a great credit to the players, lets hope it’s a kick-start for our season now.

“We didn’t give Swindon much of a chance, we had a very attacking formation and the boys went about their jobs superbly well and eleven men at the end playing against ten men, it was a case of just keeping the ball and not being sloppy.

“It was nice to keep a clean sheet and like I said I just hope it kick-starts our position in the league and we can start to climb the table.”

Swindon Town were less than happy. Boss Roy Evans was very disappointed in his team saying

“We’re very disappointed we didn’t perform the way we can. Against a decent side today they played well with good ability and showed what they’ve got.

In the first half I thought we matched them in terms of battling, but their quality was better than ours. Then in the second half we gave away a bad early goal that killed the game for us.”

On Jason Bowens goal Evans said

"I think it was bad communication between the keeper and Bobby Howe a bit of blame on both sides, it put us under pressure and there was no way back for us."

Overall Evans was unhappy with most things

"After our guy got sent off it gave us an awful dilemma, you can’t put forwards on to chase the game so we are then in a situation of damage limitation.

The referee didn’t cost us the game today we cost ourselves the game, poor as he was inconsistent as he was. But we shouldn’t look at him we should look at ourselves first that’s what we’ve got to sort out.”

We didn’t play on the day our passing was poor and our movement was poor. It only takes two or three to stop wanting the ball and then you’ve got a problem. It has to be a team effort everyone has to be available and today we didn’t really have the courage of our convictions.”
