City's £1.8m striker peter Thorne could be sidelined for upto 6 weeks. Thorne was taken off yesterday and replaced by Gavin Gordon.

Thorne has picked up an hamstring injury and will be devastated at having to miss out for several weeks. Thorne is likely to be replaced in the starting line up by Gavin Gordon who scored 5 against Rushden last week and with his first touch yesterday fed Josh Low who crossed for Kavanagh to score. City have Leo FW fit again, Leo could also step in as the target man striker but I would expect Gavin to be given a chance first.

Michael Simpkins left the fireld on a stretcher yesterday. He collided with Spencer Prior and injured knee ligaments. Its hoped his injury is no so serious but it will certainly be enough to rule him out of this weeks matches against Port Vale and Tranmere. Simpkins was replaced yesterday by Andy Legg and Legg is likely to keep the left back position for the game at Vale Park.

I don't want to knock Simpkins while he's down but again yesterday his forward play was lacking. So many bad crosses and bad final balls. City were far more effective when pushing through the middle rather than from the full backs.

Andy Legg will address that and I think the team will be better for it.

Best wishes to both Thorne and Simpkins and good luck in your recoveries.
