There is a lot of speculation and whispers around at the moment about players. City
have been again linked with Andy Marriott at Sunderland but its heresay at the moment
other names are speculated but there is no official confirmation on any new names. Paul
Evans, the Brentford skipper was strongly linked last week but that connection seems to
have been broken. There's no secret that City are looking for a keeper and a midfielder.
We are sorted in defence with the arrival two weeks ago of David Hughes, he has now
installed himself in the first team. Up front the Club have acted to cover the looming
suspentions to Leo and Gavin Gordan by signing Kyle Lightbourne on a months loan from
Stoke City. Kyle is expected to make his full debut alongside Paul Brayson at
Kidderminster on Sunday. As far as injured players are concerned it is hoped that Earnie could be back in action within 2 weeks. The Daily Mirror this morning hint that he could be on the bench on Sunday at Kidderminster but its not confirmed. Mark Bonner is back running again and could be as soon as 3 weeks away from a return. Gethin Jones is now back in training after his early season leg break. Kevin Nugent will miss the rest of the season with his achillies injury. Long term injured player Jason Fowler and Russell Perrett both played yesterday for the reserves and while they may not be fully match fit both are playing and are considered available. It was mentioned yesterday that the game against Cheltenham on Saturday March 31st will be put back to Sunday April 1st. No fooling but I am waiting for official confirmation. There is a chance Andy Legg may appeal against his sending off at Halifax. Video evidence suggests his contact with the Halifax player did not warrant a straight red card. Alan Cork was last night fined £1,000 and banned from the touchline for two games by the Welsh FA for his comments against Paul Alcock at Torquay. Cork will sit in the stand for the home game against Orient on March 6th and the away game at Lincoln on the 10th. Cork could be in further trouble after his outburst at the referee at Brighton earlier this month. I was under the impression that Cork was already on a ban at the moment (as reported on Real Radio last Tuesday) for his Brighton comments. Maybe thats with the FA? |
