Cardiff City and Alan Cork answered their critics today with a dominating 3 - 0 victory over Swindon Town. The Bluebirds were in control all match and had the majority of first half possession. Rob Earnshaw scored the opener on 36 mins when he put the most delicate of touches on a Paul Brayson cross. Brayson had been a real thorne in the Swindon side as the Bluebirds continually attacked own the left flank. While Earnie's goal was the obvious choice for moment of the half I must say that Neil Alexanders save from a Reeves header was world class. Neil dived low to his left and produced the most incredible save, it followed seconds after another great save from Graziolli and meant the Bluebirds were 1 up at half time. Gabbidon made a 70 yard run after the Reeves header and nearly added to the City score. From then on there was only going to be one winner, Jason Bowen confirmed that when he fired home within a minute of the restart. A Graham Kavanagh cross was headed up in the air by Howe and the ball dropped for Jason to chest it down and fire into the net. The defender will have nightmare's over it. City at times took the pi.. (mick)..ss out of Swindon. There were sections of the game where the Bluebirds put together upto 20 passes without a Swindon player getting near to the ball. Alexander was like a piece of sticky paper, whenever the ball came near him it stuck to him. Earnie was pummelled by Neil "Razor" Ruddock but it was strike partner Peter Thorne who came off to be subbed by Gavin Gordon. Just before that Josh Low came on for Paul Brayson. Low replaced a tiring Brayson while Thorne was brought off as a precaution after a heavy knock. The double substitution worked as Gordon flicked on a ball to Low who did everything right as he reached the by-line and flighted the perfect cross for Graham Kavanagh to head home on 80 mins. Gordon was hurt in the challenge but was fit enough to play on. As the game came to an end Michael Simpkins was stretchered off after colliding with Spencer Prior. The defenders had done thier job and cleared a danger but Simpkins took a nasty knock to his knee and was replaced by Andy Legg. Swindon played out the last 30 mins with 10 men as David Duke was sent off for a second bookable offence. So a great win but it will only mean something if we can reproduce todays form at Port Vale on Wednesday. City are now upto 15th and still have games in hand. The crowd today was 8,300, there were 3,000 City fans there. Brilliant. Swindon will remember who Cardiff City are. Only one team were singing and it was all Blue. |
