New
City captain and million pound man Graham Kavanagh is hoping to lead the Bluebirds in
their mini tour of Ireland this weekend. City kick off at Mel's Park against Athlone Town at 2:30pm on Saturday. City will be cheered on by an estimated 300 - 400 travelling supporters but for those not planning to live on guiness for the weekend help is at hand. My good friend and top Irish football journalist Rob Reid is covering the game at Athlone at will provide live chat room commentary and regular message board updates on his website www.inthenet.ie He will also update the messageboard on this website and provide full reactions and reports after the game. Expect a passionate report as Rob is a mad City fan and makes several trips a season over the Irish Sea to watch City play. The Bluebirds are based in Athlone and have taken over the local hotel. Several players are staying wih local residents for the duration. Athlone are Eircon league Div 1 while Mondays opponents are Premier Division Longford Town. City will be playing at Longford RFC on Monday as the Flancare Park home of Longford is being prepared for the clubs Uefa Cup campaign. City have taken the majority of the senior squad to Ireland as they prepare for the big Division 2 kick off on August 11th. City play their first home friendly next Saturday July 28th against Crystal Palace. |
