| March Headlines |
City entertain Merthyr tonight in the FAW Premier Cup 1/4 final. Fellow league rivals
Swansea and Wrexham have already progressed to the semi's and Cardiff would expect to join
them. The fourth and last 1/4 final is between Barry and TNS but that game has not been
arranged yet. Cardiff welcome back Mark Bonner to the starting line up. Bonner has been out for three months and it was feared he would not play again this season. Gethin Jones and Andy Thompson are both in the squad after long injuries. I wish them all well. Carl Muggleton is set to make his City debut, he will be deputised by Lee Kendall. The City squad for tonight is Carl Muggleton, Paul Buttery, Andy Thompson, Russell Perrett, Dave Green, Andy Jordan, Matt Brazier, Jeff Eckhardt, Danny Hill, Scott McCulloch, Mark Bonner, Kurt Nogan, Gavin Gordon, James Collins, Martyn Giles, Gethin Jones and youth player Geza Hajgato Three of the 17 above,Scott McCulloch, Carl Muggleton and Kurt Nogan were on the bench for the league game last Saturday. Nogan saw action after coming on as a replacement for Leo FW. City currently have 32 players in the first team squad, 28 of them were either in Saturdays squad or todays squad. The four players not involved in either game are keeper Lee Kendall (away with Wales U21), the injured Rob Earnshaw, the injured Kevin Nugent and the absent Jason Fowler. City have already beaten Merthyr twice in this competition this season and would expect to win again tonight. With over £100,000 on offer for the winners of the cup its a game that will be taken seriously, it is also live on BBC 2 Wales and on BBC Choice Wales. |
