City are likely to name and unchanged side for tomorrow's massive game against leaders
Stoke City. None of the 16 players on duty on Saturday have been named for todays reserve
game but Mark Walton, who is challenging Lee Kendall as second choice keeper was pulled
from the reserve team and will travel to Stoke. City only rarely name a keeper on the
bench so unless Neil Alexander is actually carrying an injury I would imagine Walton will
not make the 16. The only possible debate is whether Leo FW will start instead of Gavin
Gordon. City will be looking to keep themselves in contention at the top of the table, City will go 5th in they win and will get to within 4 points of leaders Stoke, albeit we will have played more games than most of the challenging teams. Defeat and the Potters will move 10 points ahead. Stoke are reporting Peter Hoekstra as their only injury worry. City expect to take around 1,000 fans to the Britannia Stadium. The game was originally planned for this coming Saturday but was moved on police advice. Stoke go into the game on the back of a 5 - 1 thumping of Wycombe at the Britannia last Saturday, City of course were frustrated with a 1 - 1 draw at Blackpool. The performance by City has been rated as one the best for years and it was only poor finishing that let the team down. It is City's biggest challange of the season so far and this game along with the other three over Christmas are crucially important. |
