The draw for the second round of the FA Cup has given City a home draw. This time its rival second division club Port Vale who will visit Ninian Park on Saturday December 8th.

City have already beaten Port Vale this season. A comfortable 2 - 0 win for the Bluebirds at Vale Park a few weeks ago.

John Heyda has provided some FA Cup stats.

If City get to the 3rd round it'll be the fifth straight year they've managed the feat -- 97/98 thru 01/02.  City got knocked out in the 2nd round in 96/97 when they fell to Gillingham 2-0 at Ninian Park.

In getting to the 3rd round for the fourth straight year last season City set themselves apart from all other lower division sides.  All together, 37 clubs played in the lower two divisions in each of the  four seasons from 1997/98 thru 2000/2001.   Of those 37, only Cardiff City got at least as far as the 3rd round in all four campaigns.  So, if City can get past Port Vale they'll maintain this distinction.
