City's
win tonight has lifted them 2 places to 11th in the table. With two games in hand on most
teams above us we could actually go top if we were to play and win those games. The honour for first spot goes to Brighton at the moment. A 90th minute winner over Stoke City at the Withdean sees the Seagulls on 17 points after playing 8 games. Colchester are second on 16 points after a 2 - 1 home win over previous leaders Oldham. Bristol City, Brentford and Oldham are 3rd, 4th and 5th. Bristol City and Brentford drew 2 - 2 at Griffin Park while Oldham as previously stated were beaten at Colchester. Reading are in 6th place courtesy of a James Harper goal in a 1 - 0 home win over Cambridge. This Saturdays opponents, Huddersfield are in 7th place, 2 points above us but having played 2 games more. The terriers were beaten at Wigan tonight by a single Simon Haworth goal. A win on Saturday would be a massive result for City. Northampton then stay bottom. 3 points from 8 games. 7 of them defeats. Big winners tonight were Peterborough. They beat Bournemouth 6 - 0 at London Rd. Poor Wrexham thought they had secured a point with two goals in 6 minutes saw them come back to 2 - 2 against at Chesterfield only for The Spirites to score 3 mins later in injury time to snatch all the points. |
