Steve McMahon was full of praise for Cardiff City the Bluebirds visit to Bloomfield Rd on the weekend. McMahon saw his side comprehensively outplayed but they still managed to gain a point.

McMahon said "Cardiff are a first division club in the waiting".

He went on to say

"Cardiff are a very dangerous team. So they should be. They have got Premier League players - lads who can cope in the top flight, but who are now playing second division football.

I think Cardiff City will go a long way. I've watched everey side in our section and they are easily the best I've seen. You have to feel they will get automatic promotion."

Alan Cork was understandably disappointed

"If this had been a boxing match the bout would have been staooped half way through.

Cardiff haven't won at Blackpool for 30 odd years but we'll never do more for victory that we did today.

We've dropped points here, yet its probably the best a Cardiff City side has played for 15 seasons. We played some great soccer, entertained but didn't get the goals. But we'll be back in training on Sunday. I'll pick us up."

Corky certainly will need to pick them up. Wednesday nights game at Stoke is massive. Stoke sit on top of division 2 and defeat for Cardiff would mean a 10 point gap with the top of the table.

It doesn't get much easier after that, Reading (5th) on Boxing Day, Bristol City (4th) a week Saturday and Brentford (3rd) on New Years Day.

Theres the small matter of Leeds United after that.

Our promotion credentials will be well tested in the next 4 games. Theres a chance to reel teams in and stop them from pulling away from us.
