Colchester Utd manager Steve Whitton has confirmed he is interested in City pair Matt Brazier and Kevin Nugent. Whitton insists it is early days and they are players amongst others he is tracking.

Whitton told the official Colchester website

"At this moment in time, all it is is an interest. It was let out at the Cardiff end that we’d shown an interest and to be honest, that’s not my way of doing things. When we’ve done it in the past, it alerts other clubs that they may be available and you could miss out. When it comes down to an auction for players, we lose out and that's why we normally keep it close to our chest."

On the players themselves Whitton said

"I've seen Brazier over past seven years and since I’ve been coaching and managing, I’ve always been impressed with him. So I know what he can do and think he is a good player, and Steve Wignall and myself were looking at him a few years ago. Nugent is a big target man who pulls off the far post and hold the ball up and brings others into play."

There has been no staement from Cardiff City on this matter and there is also no further news about the alleged interest of Swansea and Torquay in Jason Fowler.
