| February Headlines |
News has been slow this week. Nothing dramatic happening at Ninian Park. Rumours 1.The main rumour at the moment is that City are on the verge of signing Brentford midfielder and skipper Paul Evans. A deal of £100,000 is said to have been agreed and would have happened if the Bees had not beaten Swansea last Tuesday and progressed frurther in LDV Vans trophy. 2. A second name linked this week has been Matt Clarke, the Bradford keeper. Clarke it is alledged had been offered a loan deal at City until the end of the season. The player turned it down. While trying to verify the claims I found out that Leicester and Liverpool have also shown interest in the player who would command a £2 - £3 million transfer fee. 3. Speculation that Bobby Zamora was spotted in Cardiff last Saturday evening looking for a flat, as reported on another website, to me seems to be farcical. Especially as he was in Brighton playing football Saturday afternoon. So three rumours. 1. I would say could be true, its not unreasonable. 2. May have happened, an ambitious attempt. 3. I think is a real turkey. Injuries Rob Earnshaw is the player we are missing most, Earnie was hoping for a return to action late Frebruary but its looking more like early March. Andy Thompson and Mark Bonner are makin progress and could be ready for reserve team action in the next week. Kevin Nugent, while hoping to make a return this season, is likely to be out until the next campaign. Kevin has had surgery on his achillies and is currently in plaster. Russell Perrett and Jason Fowler are both fit, in full training and looking for action. Fowler has been involved in FAW Cup action and a subs appearance against Rochdale and Perret also made an FAW comback. City's other injured player is Gethin Jones, the youngster is still out after a nast leg break earlier in the season. Jon Hallworth of course has retired from playing. |
