This
Saturday is FA Cup rd 1 day. A chance for the majority of non league sides who make it
into the competition proper to have their "15 mins" of fame in front of the TV
camera's and sometimes produce the odd shock. Tiverton feel it's their time to grab the limelight. They have never made it to round 2. Will this year be their year? Of course as a City fan I hope not. The game is being played at Ninian Park but is classed as a home game for Tiverton. They're fans will use the Spar Family Stand and the Canton end of the Lower Grandstand. A few hundred Tivvy fans are expected to travel and I welcome them to Ninian Park and hope they enjoy their day. Its a cup game, no rivalry and most certainly no hostility, like with Yeovil a couple of seasons ago it should a day where the fans can get along and enjoy being part of the FA Cup. The game kicks off at 3pm and their are reduced ticket prics for this game. Season tickets do not apply and there is no reservation of seats for season ticket holders. All tickets are first come firt serve. Prices range from £8 pre purchased to £13 and from £10 on the day to £15. The Devon side will be no pushover. They have fought hard to get into the Dr Martens League and have their sights on a conference place. Their manager Martyn Rogers broke his transfer record this week. He agreed a four figure deal for centre back Steve Peters from Clevedon. Rogers himself holds the FA Cup with high esteem. He scored a goal for Exeter City in a 4 - 0 win over Newcastle Utd in 1991 as the Grecians made it to the 1/4 finals losing to Spurs at White Hart Lane. Rogers has taken Tiverton to back to back FA Vase wins at Wembley. He says of Saturdays game "In one sense this is one of the biggest games in the club's history, but I can't say it is bigger than going to Wembley in a national competition. In 1999, we took over 10,000 people; if we take 1,000 on Saturday we will be doing well." City are back at Ninian Park next Tuesday with a Nationwide league game aginst Colchester Utd before taking at trip to Notts County the following Saturday. If there were to be a cup replay it would be back at Ninian Park on Tuesday Nov 27th. The official website is running a competition everyday this week to win FA Cup ticket for Saturday. Be first to answer the question poised and a pair of tickets could be yours. |
