Spenser Prior has been speaking to the Echo giving his side of the story in an exclusive interview.

Prior was offered a three year deal with huge incentives if the team were to do well but he would not take the risk. He is still under contract at Maine Rd with 2 years to run. He is earning a reported £8,000 a week and does not need to take a pay cut.

Prior said

"Cardiff can reach Division 1 at least, if not the Premiership. Wales deserves a football club in the top flight, but maybe the oportunity for me to join the football club has come a year too soon. I don't class myself as being greedy and I can understand that Sam does not want to cause any problems with the other players."

Prior went on to say he had held several excellent meeting with Sam and Alan Cork and liked the plans they had for the future. He wishes Cardiff City all the best.

Sam Hammam told the Echo

"He's a fantastic lad and could be a major influence and asset to the club. The problem is not so much him, but my own conscience, becuase I don't want to have a situation where one person is much, much more than the guy sitting next to him in the cnaging rooms. The deal I offered would have made him the highest paid player at the club and the incentives were very, very generous".

Alan Cork will continue to look for players and had earlier said he still has various irons in the fire.
