Own goal No. 3 of 2001 cost City 3 points at Roots Hall. Rhys Weston was the unfortunate player to fire into his own net in the third minute of injury time.

City had scored from a Leo Fortune West effort at the end of the first half. Just before that Kevin Evans had missed a penalty after Gavin Gordon was felled.

It looked at though City had managed to keep the Southend attack at bay until virtually the last kick of the game.

Rhys up until that point had had a good game and he must put it out of his mind and concentrate on Crewe in the Cup this Tuesday.
