City
look set to name an unchanged starting XI for the visit of struggling Wigan tonight. Pre season the Latics, like Cardiff were amongst the favourites for Divison 2 but both teams are currently in the bottom half of the table, Wigan are in the drop zone with on 8 points from 10 games. This is their 7th away game of the saeason so far and they have won 1, drawn 1 and lost the other 4. After City's encouraging display at Bristol on Tuesday we could be about to see a good run of form from City. It is exactly one year since Alan Cork took overfrom Bobby Gould and then he started from 14th place to finish runners up to Brighton. The same thing could happen again. Jason Bowen and Rob Earnshaw are the players to watch for City tonight. Peter Thorne is due a goal as well. Tonight is only the 15th ever league meeting between the clubs. City have won 4, drawn 5 and lost 5. So a a home win would even it up nicely. The last meeting was in October 1999 when the Latics won 2 - 0 at the JJB. Wigan will bring City old boy (even though he's only 24) Simon Haworth vback to Ninian Park. He will be seen as their main threat. A win tonight for City would put them only 6 points behind top spot in Div 2. A massive 13 places but only 6 points. The rest of the division play tomorrow so any movement in the table tonight is likely to only be temporary but the Bluebirds will still have games in hand. Kick off is at 7:45pm and you can pay at the gate. There will be a 6th consecutive 5 figure crowd anticipating a home win. |
