Latest reports say that Peter Thorne has completed his medical and we are now waiting for an official statement regarding his signing.

Its reported that the deal is for £1.7m with a further £75,000 being paid to Stoke if City are promoted this season.

The player will sign a 4 year contract.

Swindon Town will also benefit, its thought the Robins will pick up around £300,000 after inserting a sell on clause when they sold Thorne to Stoke.

Obviously this is Cardiff's record signing by far. Thorne is the striker City have been looking for. Thorne joins ahead of other linked players Andy Booth and Iwan Roberts.

Thorne is the player wanted by cork and not without reason. Thorne is proven at this level and has a career record of close on a goal every two games. An excellent return. He is seen as a guranteed 20 goal plus a season man. Thorne is expected to have completed all the necessaries to be available for selection for the trip to Cambridge on Saturday.

City's joy at landing Thorn is mirrored in the Potteries with very bitter Stoke fans who are apalled by their board for selling their star player.

Comments like...

"I've had enough, not going Saturday. I also want a return on the lads Stoke shirt I bought less than a month ago with Thorne on the back."

"Good luck to Peter Thorne. Not a suprise to hear we have (again) sold our best player. This club has not shown any real improvements under the icelandic management. It continues to ignore the considerations of the fans and does not deserve any support. we should all boycott the Reading game - see how they respond to nil revenue from a game - it is the only voice we have."

"Gutted, shocked, angry and very depressed. We have lost a great player, a top goal scorer and a thoroughly nice bloke to a rival in our own division. Got to explain all this to my son this evening."

...have been expressed by Stoke City fans today.

Welcome to Ninian Park Peter.
