Its back to league action this weekend as City travel to Roots Hall, Southend. The Shrimpers are only 5 points behind City and will be looking to bounce back from their shock FA Cup exit last weekend at home to non-league Kingstonian. Southend have already beaten both Chesterfield and Brighton at Roots Hall and City will be keen not to be the next victims.

Alan Cork has taken a 19 man squad to the Essex coast, the boys left this afternoon. The 16 men on duty agaiunst Crewe last weekend have been joined by Lee Kendall, the new young keeper, and James Harper and Gavin Gordon.

Its thought that Gavin Gordon might get the nod up front so Leo can be kept ready for Tuesdays FA Cup replay. Gavin is of course cup tied for that game. James Harper is set to play as well, he will also miss out the cup game on Tuesday.

James Harper after 1 game would appear to be a snip at £250,000 a fee agreed between Cardiff and Arsenal, its purely up to the player now if he wants to join Cardiff City.

Cardiff will need to be at their best tomorrow as the playing surface at Roots Hall will do little to help the players used to a near perfect Ninian Park.

So I would guess that we will line up something like this.

Walton, Brazier, Weston, Legg, Young, Gabbidon, McCulloch, Harper, Bowen, Gordon, Earnie. Subs from Kendall, Low, Nogan, Eckhardt, Evans, Leo, Brayson and Boland.

There will be full coverage from Gill Samuel in the chat room and first reactions on the message board.
