The Lucketti / Booth story moves on. First news broke of the City offers for these players on Thursday when Lou Macari went ballistic in the press saying City had made illegal approaches for them.

It has since turned out that City had conducted formal discussions with the Huddersfield board who it appears had not told Macari they were negotiating with Cardiff.

Over Friday there were yes they will / no they won't stories but the final truth would appear that Huddersfield are considering an offer for Lucketti, thought to be just over £1m. Booth they say is not for sale but City have reportedly offered just under £1m. The Terriers are in terrible financial trouble and are weighing up the options. Huddersfield fans are furious the board are even thinking of possibly selling their two best players.

Huddersfield chairman Barry Rubery said

'Because of our financial situation and following our relegation, there are a lot of predators out there,' he said.

'Cardiff have made a very good offer for Chris Lucketti which I am considering very carefully.

'We've also had an extremely good offer from Cardiff for Andy Booth but he is not for sale.'

Alan Cork speaking on Real Radio last night said that offers had ben put in and he would know more early next week if the players were coming. He said he was always looking to strengthen the squad and would continue to do so.

City were hoping to keep this under wraps until deals were completed by Macari's outburst put paid to that. I would expect City to make a statement in due course, but only when a signing has been complete or an enquiry has ended.
