Scott
Young steps up for a chance to impress in the seasons opener against Wycombe at Ninian
Park tomorrow, 3pm. Young was due to be a substitute behind the expected pairing of
Gabbidon and Prior until Spencer broke a bone in his cheek in training earlier in the
week. Now Young looks like getting a chance to prove he should be first choice. A quick
poll on the front page unanimously supported Scott, he polled a massive 74%. If as expected that is the only change to the line ups that faced Palace and Coventry then City should line up with Alexander in goal, Weston, Young, Gabbidon and Simpkins across the back, Low, Kavanagh, Hamilton and Legg across the middle and Earnie and Gavin Gordon up front. Subs to be named but expected from Brayson, Bowen, Leo, Boland, Maxwell, Kendall. This is a massive game for everybody. upto 18,000 City fans expected, ticket sales have already gone through the 14,500 barrier. Wycombe will be aiming to be party poopers. The Chairboys arrive at Ninian Park on the back of last season FA Cup success. Old friends meet again as the Wycombe manager Lawrie Sanchez scored Wimbledon's winner in the 1988 FA Cup final, Sam's finest Wimbledon hour. Up front they will play Jermaine McSporran, quality name and a quality player, alongside Andy Rammell. New signing Andy Holligan is likely to be on the bench. Can I offer a warm welcome to Wycombe to Ninian Park. This is a massive day for Cardiff City, the atmosphere will be intense and support very partisan. Enjoy your day is our superb City but as a City fan I hope you go home empty handed. Kick off is at 3:00pm. It is pay at the gate if you do not have a ticket but risk that at your peril, if you are coming with out a ticket get there early as City expect to fill the 18,000 spaces available to them. Good luck to all the City team with special mentions to new captain Graham Kavanagh, Des Hamilton and Neil Alexander. May your debuts be happy ones. Spencer, good luck in your recovery, we'll see you for the Bournemouth game in a fortnight. There will be internet coverage at www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk with chat-room coverage on this website as well as first reaction on the messageboard. |
