Huddersfield
Town have officially confirmed that Chris Lucketti is talking to Cardiff City. They do
however deny that Lucketti was in Cardiff yesterday. A claim made by Cardiff City's
official website. They also agree that City have made an approach for Andy Booth but that he is part of Huddersfields plans for the future. Cardiff said that Booth was expected for talks on Monday. City were keen to keep these potential transfers under wraps but Lou Macari blasted out yesterday claiming illegal approaches for these players were made by Cardiff City, an allegation denied by Cardiff who say they have conducted themselves in the proper manner and have been dealing with Huddersfield at baordroom level. As with most things the truth is out there, probably somewhere between the two camps. Huddersfield have come under a lot of pressure from their fans who feel the club are just cashing in rather than trying to mount a serious challenge in Div 2 next season. I do not expect another statement from Cardiff City until either or both of these players have been signed. Huddersfield may issue further statements but thats their business. Local press claim that a £2m for both players is imminent. Booth is a big striker, a target man, he was bought for £2.7m by Sheff Weds a few seasons ago and at 27 still has a long career ahead of him. Lucketti is a couple of years older and is a centre half. The reactions from Huddersfield fans suggest that if they sell these two players they can kiss a promotion challenge goodbye. Expect more news on Monday or Tuesday next week. |
