| Thurs 9th August 2001 - Season getting closer | |
| August Headlines |
With
just two days before the big kick off 99.9% of the preparation will have been done. City
had hiccup earlier in the week when Spncer Prior was ruled out of the start of the season
after a fractured cheekbone in training. Prior will miss the first two games at least. Alan Cork has had a great pre season with the players coming together well and results on the pitch and off bringing massive confidence. Spencer was naturally disappointed with not being able to start the season. He said "I do feel frustrated and a bit down. The pre-season build up has gone so well and everybody is looking forward to the season starting. It's going to be hard not walking out with the rest of the lads and being part of it." Wins against Palace and Coventry, the latter in front of over 9,000 fans at Ninian Park has meant huge interest in Saturdays game and in Cardiff City's season. Favourite to replace Prior will be Scott Young. No change of formation just a central defender for a central defender. Cork though has other options Legg can play at the back, David Hughes is also ready to step in. A couple of sure things are that Rob Earnshaw and Gavin Gordon should start up front and City will be powered in the middle by Graham Kavanagh and Des Hamilton. Roll on Saturday. |
