Cardiff City have this afternoon confirmed that they have made offers for Huddersfield duo Chris Lucketti and Andy Booth.

Chris Lucketti, 29,   is skipper at Huddersfield and a quality defender. City say he is having a medical at Ninian Park on Thursday evening and is hoped he will sign and be in the squad for the seasons opener against Wycombe.

Andy Booth is a 27 year old striker. He was a huge success at Huddersfield with a prolific strike rate of a goal nearly every two games. That attracted interest from local rivals Sheff Weds who took him to Hillsborough and the Premiership for £2.7m. Booth returned to Huddersfield via a loan spell at Spurs and is there leading target man. His assets are strength in the air and works well with a speedy partner.

Cardiff City's official statement this afternoon says that Lucketti is having his medical and Booth arrives for talks on Monday. They stress

"We would like to point out that the Club have conducted both transfers through the correct channels."

Lou Macari at Huddersfield sees it a little different.

“I intend to report Cardiff City and Alan Cork to the Football League because I am not having our pre-season preparations interrupted by a manager ringing my players at the training ground with regard to possible transfers.
“It's an insult to everyone connected with Huddersfield Town and it's disgusting that players are having their attention directed away from where it should be - preparing for the season.
“Never in my time in management has this happened to me and I am certainly not going to allow it to happen to me now.
“What gives them the right to ring up our players about possible transfers to Cardiff City?
“It is diabolical that this should happen at any time, but just days before you are due to kick-off an important season it is ridiculous.
“As far as I am concerned, an illegal approach has been made to Andy Booth and possibly one other player and I'm not having it.”

Both players are first division and above quality and would be huge players in Division 2 for Cardiff City. Its like Christmas for the 87th time for City fans this year but at the McAlpine its a different story. Fans are fuming at the apparant actions of Huddersfield. With Lou Macari claiming all this has gone on without his knowledge and City claiming its all above board the Terrier's fans are making all sorts of accusations against their board and their club.

Michael Taylor, editor of Huddersfield's From The Terrace website says

"The club is treading on dodgy ground by selling two of its most influential first teamers, so let’s hope decisions over the next few days are taken with care."

More news as it breaks on Friday.
