The proposed transfer of both Kevin Nugent and Matt Brazier to Colchester Utd has moved a major step closer.

Terms have been agreed with the players who will decide over the weekend if they will move to Essex.

The stumbling block was the difference between what they earn now and what Colchester were offering. I understand that a financial deal involving the fee to be paid by the clubs and the packages paid by Colchester to the players has proved acceptable to all.

Cardiff City have made it clear that the players are no longer wanted and while they have the option of just picking up their wages at Ninian park they will find themselves out of work at the end of the season. Fair play to both players who will move to try and resurrect their careers.

Nugent, who is desperate to play football, has told the local press in Colchester

"I am very keen to come to Colchester to kick-start my first team career again. I know Colchester well and I was very impressed with the manager Steve Whitton when I came down for talks with him earlier this week."

Nugent would have been happy to stay at Ninian Park but his chances are extremely limited behind Thorne, Leo, Gavin Gordan and lately James Collins.

Brazier was clearly not fancied by Alan Cork and a move is his only chance to play first team football.

I wished them well last week when we thought they were going and I'll wixh them well again.

Hopefully we shall get official confirmation early next week.
