City
will be expecting a tough physical battle at Gigg Lane tonight. Bury currently have one of
the worse disciplinary records and managed to get 4 players booked inside 30 mins in their
last game. The entire back 4 went into the book taking the tally upto 41 bookings so far
this season. I hope the referee tonight, Mr David Laws, keeps an eye on things. Leo especially comes in for some rough and tumble and ref's are never very sympathetic towards him. Leo will play up front in place of Gavin Gordon. Gavin is out with a hamstring pull, Peter Thorne is still out with his hamstring problem and midfielder Jason Bowen is also out with hamstring trouble. Des Hamilton steps into midfield. City then are set to play Alexander, Weston, Gabbidon, Prior, Legg, Hamilton, Kavanagh, Boland, Brayson, Earnshaw, Leo FW with a bench consisting of Young, Maxwell, Collins, Bonner and Low. James Collins has moved up the pecking order after the injuries to Gordon and Thorne. He comes in front of Kevin Nugent, who plays for the reserves today, and the hardly ever heard of Kurt Nogan. Cork has given Collins his chance after impressing in reserve games / training. Bury are rock bottom but have tightened up at home. They lost the first 4 league games at Gigg Lane but have drawn one and won the last two games inc a 2 - 0 win over Peterborough in their last home league match. Billy Ayre, off work at Bury while receiving cancer treatment is hoping to be at Gigg Lane tonight. He is hoping to get back to work at the football club after Christmas. Site update may only take place on Thursday morning. See how late it is when I get back. |
