| Thurs 7th June 2001 - Des Hamilton | |
| June Headlines |
Reports this morning from www.teamtalk.com 's
Newcastle listing claims that defender Des Hamilton is in Cardiff today having a medical
in lieu of signing for Cardiff City. Hamilton was first linked a couple of weeks ago and
now it appears a deal could be close. Enquiries into this story have revealed a 4 year
deal has been agreed with Hamilton. I will of course confirm more as the news breaks. He
was released by Newcastle in May and will join on a bosman.
Des Hamilton has been at Newcastle since 1997 when they paid Bradford £1.5m for the player. He has been out on loan to Norwich, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd and more recently Tranmere for whom he played 10 first division games last season. He started his career at Bradford and has played his football over the past 5 seasons in both the Premiership and first division. He is only 25 in August and to have a player that age sign from the Premiership is a great coup for the club. More news as it emerges. |
