legg2.jpg (12893 bytes)Alan Cork will have to make two changes to his starting line up for this Saturday's FA Cup second round tie against Port Vale at Ninian Park.

Striker Peter Thorne is injured and loan signing Dean Gordon must miss the game as Middlesbrough do not want him to be cup tied if he has to go back to the Riverside.

Gavin Gordon will replace Peter Thorne in attack and Andy Legg (left) will replace Dean Gordon. Josh Low has also been added to the squad.

Alan Cork updated the press on Peter Thorne's injury and said that Gavin would be a starter for Saturday.

"Peter has ripped tendons in his ankle and he will be in plaster for two weeks. Then we will see how quickly he heals. It's a blow to lose a player of his quality, but we have Gavin Gordon fit again and he will step in. We haven't used him among the substitutes so far because he was just  back from a hamstring injury. We did not want to risk any setback when we had Leo Fortune-West and Kevin Nugent available."

Gavin comes straight into the team from outside the squad while Andy Legg moves up from the bench.

Peter Thorne was understandably frustrated with the his injury

"I am devastated by the bad luck I'm getting. When I signed for Cardiff City it was the 13th. Maybe I should rip the contract up and sign a new one with a different date."

Port Vale have already been knocked out of one cup this week. Boss Brian Horton cancelled the players day off yesterday after they produced a poor show in the LDV Vans on Tuesday night to be knocked out by 3rd division Hull City at Bootherry Park. With City already having beaten Vale at Vale Park in the league the favourites are Cardiff City by a long way.

But this is the Cup of course, any team can win on the day and City will have to be careful. I've said it before about complacency. The players who run out on Saturday will need keep focussed and then hopefully the dream of any lower division fan can be realised. A big Premiership draw in round 3.

Vale also have a couple on injury problems. Neil Brisco, Steve Brooker and Ian Armstrong being their main worries.

Tickets are on sale for Saturdays game. All seats are now on general sale after the season ticket holders deadline passed yesterday. Tickets bought in advance from the ticket office or official website are cheaper than matchday prices. Kick off on Saturday is at 3pm and another 5 figure crowd is expected.
