Over the weekend I put up a poll after many questiond Alan Cork's ability to manage Cardiff City. In the last few days over 450 people have voted and Cork is winning over the critics. 63% of the vote are backing him. The win at Wrexham may have influenced results but it sends out a message that City fans are happy with Alan Cork and to be honest when you look at the improvements at Ninian Park and the league position it would take the most stubborn of fans not be happy in some way.

Should Alan Cork stay as City manager?

Yes  (292)

I spent a long while on the phone with Sam today and he is backing Cork to take us forward. Both Cork and Sam appreciate the need to get experienced help for Cork but managers have to start somewhere. Sam is confident in Cork's ability and when questioned on sensitive matters like whether Cork is up to the job he asked me if I was happy that Cork had

1. got us promoted,

2. bought quality players,

3. placed us in promotion contention in division 2

While there are arguments to be picky you cannot dis-agree that we are better placed now than we ever have been. Sam told me of the decision to rest first team players for the LDV games. That was Sam's choice. His ambition is promotion. He would not allow his first team players to risk injury. He also wanted to see how the reserve players stood up under pressure.

Sam has three very sure aims.

1. promotion

2. a new stadium

3. massive success for Cardiff City

I don't think there is one City fan who has any problem with any of those aims.

Sam is still smitten with Cardiff City and he knows that the majority of fans are backing the Bluebirds. He still gets letters from fans who complain that there is a leak in the Bob Bank roof but in the main there is adulation for his investment.

I have critised Cork in the past and still have reservations about his ability to take us forward but as Sam says he needs experienced help. Sam was devastated when Dave Bassett went to Leicester. He was due to join City but went to Filbert St at the last minute.

We are winning games, we are unbeaten in 7 league games, we are on the verge of a play off place with games in hand, we are one of the most feared teams in the division, we have a home ground that has only been breached once in 30 odd games. Its not that bad.

Cheer up Swansea's worse than us. Seriusly, just think on that. Where would you rather be.
