alexander.jpg (9346 bytes)Cardiff City's new keeper Neil Alexander has been recongnised by the Livingstone fans he has left behind in a near tear jerking tribute. While unknown south of the border it appears that Neil has made a massive impression in Scotland and what is Livingstone's loss would seem to be a massive gain for Cardiff City.

At the time of his transfer the good will messages were being left on Livingstone websites. Now www.livilions.co.uk has placed a tribute page on the net to thank Neil for his efforts at Almondvale.

The young keeper cost City £130,000 and is tipped to be a future Scotland No. 1. He has already been an U21 international player and his efforts help Livingstone to two promotions, the second one being into the Scottish Premier league. He must have a good feel for Cardiff if he has come to Ninian Park looking for success rather than play against Rangers and Celtic.

£130,000 in todays money is a snip for a top player and I'm looking forward to seeing him play next season.

Here are some extracts from the article.

"Neil Alexander is undoubtedly one of the brightest young goalkeeping talents in the country and has been widely tipped to, one day, feature in the Scottish full international squad."

"McCaldon was preferred for much of Livi's first season in the First Division, but when the club's management changed, so did Neil's first team fortunes and suddenly he found himself as the regular first choice for the start of 2000/01. Given his chance, he didn't let go -until an untimely training ground injury on the eve of a Scottish Cup quarter final against Peterhead, anyway. And that was 36 games later. There are too many memorable magic moments in those intervening matches to even begin to mention them all."

"Before his departure, he was voted Livingston Supporters Player of the Year 2000/01 - a bigger tribute than this site could ever pay to his contribution to the club's promotion to the SPL. It was a deserved award, even considering his enforced absence in the latter part of the campaign."

There are some fitting comments from Livingstone fans as well with the final word coming from Livingstone manager Jim Leishman

"He was a smashing professional but not only that, he was a smashing person as well. Everyone at the club would like to wish him all the best for the future."
