Local councillors have been offering an objection to the proposed retail developments for the new Cardiff City Stadium in Leckwith.

Riverside councillor Dave Sharpe said.

"It would be a disaster. The retail plan would decimate local shops in Canton, Riverside and Cowbridge Road East. The council has to take a strategic view of what retail development Cardiff could cope with."

Fellow Riverside councillor Paul Mitchell said

"We welcome modern facilities for the football club, but it must not be at the expense of the everyday lives of the communities we represent."

Hang on guys. You have seen no proposals yet. Sam Hammam has been given 12 months to come up with a scheme to suit all. Wait until then.

Sam said

"I'm in no doubt that everything will be fine and we will get unanimous support. I'm confident because I know what we are planning and I'm positive it will generate so much. It is one of the most important projects in Wales. We will reach out to convince any councillor or anyone in planning of the benefits. Nothing has been submitted to the council yet, but I'm confident it will zoom through."

Keep at it Sam. They know nothing of the plans just yet so why do they object to an unknown thing?
