The link between Dave Bassett and Cardiff City has been on the quiet side over the last few days.

Bassett told the press earlier in the week that if Sam or Alan Cork called him asking him to assist at Ninian Park he would be interested but then Peter Taylor was sacked at Leicester and one of the front runners for his position is Harry Redknapp. Bassett was then primed as Redknapp's No.2.

It would appear that Bassett is biding his time.

This leaves Ian Butterworth as the recognised No.2 to Alan Cork. City's next game is on Tuesday at Ashton Gate at Bristol City.
