Chesterfield and Brighton along with Cardiff were the winners this weekend. It looks like the big 3 are consolidating their promotion credentials.

Leaders Chesterfield came from a goal down at Macclesfield to win 2 - 1. That kept them 16 points ahead of City. They have played 3 games more.

Brighton won their "derby" match at Leyton Orient, derby because the London teams are their nearest rivals. Bobby Zamoras scored the second in their 2 - 0 win.

With City winning as well it was a good weekend for these teams. Not so good though for the chasers.

Hartlepool in 4th place only managed a draw at York City, City are now 6 points clear with a game in hand over Hartlepool. This statistic means more that any other. Its the gap between automatic promotion and the play offs.

5th placed Orient as mention were beaten by Brighton and Blackpool and Southend stormed into 6th and 7th places with convincing home wins, Blackpool 5 - 1 over Kidderminster and Southend 3 - 0 over luckless Rochdale.

Dale were City's nearest rivals a few weeks ago, now they are 15 points behind us and out of the play off places.

Hull dropped to 10th place after defeat at Ninian Park but they are only 3 points from the play off zone and Cheltenham, thanks to a 1 - 0 win at home against Exeter have moved into 9th place, 2 points from the play offs.

At the bottom its looking bad for Carlisle. They were beaten 2 - 0 at home by Darlington and are now 4 points away from safety on 27 points. York and Lincoln and both on 31 points.

City play at Lincoln next Saturday and at home to Carlisle the Saturday after.
