Carlton Palmer has been offered £10,000 per week to join Cardiff City, according to newspaper reports today.

The deal, by far the biggest wage package in City's history has been offered to Palmer but while he is interested he has to sort out a contractual problem at Coventry.

Palmer has 2.5 years to run on his contract at Highfield Rd and Coventry are prepared to let him go on a free transfer but the player is rumoured to want a 6 figure pay off. If that can be overcome then a move to Ninian Park is not out of the question.

Palmer, 35, is seen as the man to anchor the midfield at Ninian Park and the head of experience to guide the younger players to promotion.

The deal looks to be on a match by match basis until the end of ther season with an option to extend it further when the time comes.

This is more than just rumour, the information has been confirmed by Palmer's agent Dave Plummer.
