Colchester have anounced this afternoon that they have held talks with Matt Brazier and Kevin Nugent.   A deal has been agreed by the clubs and now its down to personal terms. First news from the discussions is not good with Brazier and Nugent being offered less than what they currently earn at Ninian Park.

U's boss Steve Whitton is now negotiating with the players to come to an agreement. There will have to be compromise as Colchester cannot match the wages but the players, as far as their careers go, need to be playing football.

Whitton said

"What I've offered them and what they are currently on are some way apart. For those two players to walk away from what they are currently earning and to come here and play for us is a big decision. It's no fault of theirs that they currently earn a very good wage, but when they are both such good lads and would fit into the set-up here perfectly, it's very frustrating. I've made my offer and they've told me what they're currently on, so they' ve gone away to think about it and decide how much they want to play for us. We have to see how much we can bend from the original offer and they have to do the same. At the moment, however, we're quite a way apart. I also hope that if we can't get both players, we can get one of them. The best thing is that with no game for two weeks it gives us time to talk, so it's still early days and we'll see how close we can get."

If there are any more developments I'll update the situation.

Its been reported this afternoon that Scott McCulloch has turned down a loan move to Hamilton. No explantion as to why.
