Andy Legg has been speaking about his relief after he was given the all clear in a cancer scare. The player had a benign tumor removed 18 months ago and it was thought it could be returning.

Legg told the Echo

"Thank God it's all over. I've been worried for a couple of weeks and it's been a difficult time. Now I'm fired up for Wrexham."

"Now I can concentrate on football. The news has given me a little buzz and I'm looking forward to playing against Wrexham.

"If the tumour had returned I would have seriously considered finishing my playing career immediately. But I can put thoughts like that out of my mind. The scare emerged from my chest infection and was nothing to do with anything else."

Speaking of the operation 18 months ago Legg said

"It wasn't a nice operation - I lost all feeling in my face.

"I am so relieved. I've been worried about this for a couple of weeks. It's been difficult to concentrate, although I've always tried to give 100 per cent in matches. But health and family are important. I know that more than ever now."
