Alan Cork is hoping at some stage on Saturday to field a Welsh XI. City go to Hartlepool guaranteed the runners up spot in Division 3.

There maybe injury problems that restrict his wishes but its thought he may try to have at least XI Welsh players in the 16 to achieve something that has not been done in nearly 30 years. I did early say is was over 50 years but Jon has written in to correct me and say that City fielded the following XI in a 5 - 3 win at Southampton on Oct 31st 1962.

1. Graham Vearnecombe (Born Cardiff)
2. Ron Stitfall (Cardiff)
3. Trevor Edwards  (Rhondda)
4. Alan Harrington (Cardiff)
5. Mel Charles (Swansea)
6. Colin Baker (Cardiff)
7. Alan McIntosh (Llandudno)
8. Alan Durban (Port Talbot)
9. Derek Tapscott (Barry)
10. Ivor Allchurch (Swansea)
11. Barry Hole  (Swansea)

City could field Mark Walton, Andy Legg, Scott Young, Daniel Gabbidon, Rhys Weston, Josh Low, Jason Bowen, Kevin Evans, Martyn Giles, Rob Earnshaw and James Collins. Kurt Nogan and Gethin Jones could also take part.

Willie Boland, Mark Bonner Leo FW and Paul Brayson all have to be considered though.

The ticket office were still offering a few tickets for the game on open sale and because of the lack of demand for tickets there will be no big screen at Ninian Park.

City boss Cork was a guest on the phone in on Real Radio today and was lavishly praised by the callers for his efforts this season. I echo those sentiments and would like to thank Alan for his contribution in getting City promoted.

While no names were given he admitted that he was well into negotiations with at least three experienced players for next seasons campaign. He is looking for 5 / 6 players. As for players leaving he mentioned Danny Hill was out of contract and I got the impression out of Ninian Park.

It was great to hear several Swansea fans calling in to congratulate Alan as well.

Its been a great season, promotion was achieved, 94 goals scored with a game to go, unbeaten at NP, its leaves us starved of football for a couple of months but it leaves us on a high.

There will be a further preview on Friday afternoon.

Just a reminder to the website users that the site continues 24/7 throughout the summer. Retained lists, season ticket prices, players in, players out, fixtures etc, it all goes on.
