clough.jpg (13296 bytes)I picked up the Wales on Sunday today read the front page of the sport section and put the paper back down. I thought I'd picked up the Sunday Sport. It wasn't a bus on the moon or Elvis spotted in a chip shop, no, more unbelievable than that. Brian Clough linked to Cardiff City as Cork's mentor.

No disrespect to Brian Clough, a brilliant manager and as the saying goes the best manager never to coach his national team. But for Cardiff City? Too long out of the game surely.

The rumours allegedly started amongst the crowd at yesterdays game, I was there and never heard them but its in the paper so it must be true.

Sam was asked about Brian Clough and he replied

"I never say no and I never say yes when negotiations are going on. A week doesn't go by without somebody being linked to Cardiff City. Our coach Ian Butterworth does speak highly of Brian and had some good times under him at Nottingham Forest."

Butterworth was equally cagey and said

"You'll have to ask the chairman about this"

Sam has re-iterated this week that he is still seaching for experienced help for Cork. There is a lack of names being mentioned as the more high profile people are looking for the No 1 job. There's no doubt the team would benefit from experienced help. Cork is not doing a bad job, we are 9th and in the mix for promotion but I'm sure we could be doing better.

Still I'm happy as the proverbial pig and I will have an even bigger grin on my face if we beat Brentford on Tuesday.
