Cardiff City have changed. It may still be pre season but this team is a class apart. Graham Kavanagh, Des Hamilton, Spencer Prior and Neil Alexander are signings of a class we have not seen before. Add Josh Low, Rhys Weston, Andy Legg and others and you have a team that have once again beaten first division opposition. Coventry were tougher than Palace but then they were in the Premiership only 12 weeks ago. A crowd of over 9,000, double what it was on Saturday (and that was a good crowd) were treated to some stunning City football. Kavanagh, Hamilton and Low were sublime. Alexander over the 90 minutes was incredible. The goal came on 16 mins, Legg fired home form 18 yards when the ball ran kindly to him. Cue mass hysteria as the ground errupted. Such was the interest in the game that the Grandstand was was full to bursting, fans were being led en masse to the Family Canton End to allow for the overspill in the Grandstand. Coventry made upto 8 changes at half time and City played a different game. For the first 45 mins that the team were at Coventry's throats, they chased and harried, went for every ball. The half time whistle was greeted with a standing ovation. Second half City changed their tack to a defending team. Coventry were the attacking team with City for want of a better phrase on the back foot. But we were not out of control. Coventry pressed and City defended with comfort. Hardly any errors and a confidence bordering on arrogance. IF Man Utd can be arrogant then so can we. I promise you one thing. This team will not be relegated. In fact I promise you something else, we will be one of the top teams in Div 2. City brought on Brayson, Boland, Nugent and Maxwell. A great first half attacking dispay. A good second half defending dispalay. For those still wondering if they should or should not come to Ninian Park this season I suggest you make your mind up pretty quick as tickets will be selling fast. |
