City find themselves with an injury crisis after 4 friendly games in 5 days. The new season is still 13 days and 5 more friendly matches away. While I expect so see more youth players involved in the game against Llanelli, Newport and Haverfordwest, we will probably try to put out first string teams against Bath and Brentford.

Two questions then, are we playing too many preseason games and have we enough players.

Well to answer question 1 you have to touch on question 2. If we had a bigger squad then the amount of games would be less of an issue, especially with the availability of youth players but City have used a squad of 19 players only for the last 4 games. Scott Young, who equalised for City yesterday has played 4 games in 5 days.

City currently have 18 senior professionals. Two first year professionals, one senior trial player (Andy Thompson) and one junior trial player (Gethin Jones).

Of the 18 senior players Danny Hill and Russell Perrett missed yesterdays game through injury. Matt Brazier and Paul Brayson picked up foot injuries against Swindon. Mark Bonner and Dave Greene have thigh strains. Andy Legg has a tight hamstring.

Triallist Andy Thompson was ruled out of yesterdays game through injury.

So out of the 18 senior professionals 7 of them are on the sick list. 11 left. One of the two triallists are inured as well. So out of 22 players 8 are injured. The two first year professionals have not been involved with the first team yet. So from 20 named players only 12 are fit. With two of them goalkeepers theings will need to improve, and quick.
