Jon Hallworth should never be allowed to leave his line. The antics that led to the first Luton goal was farcical. Fist he came flapping out for a cross and was well beaten to it, fortunately the ball ran loose but then came back over again and instead of learning his lesson he came flapping again. He was beaten for a second time and the loose ball was headed into the unguarded net. Shocking. Jon is an excellent shot stopper but he proved he is very poor with crosses. In fairness to City I thought they deserved more from the first half, Richie Humphreyas looked like a striker again and had the three best chances of the half. His first a delicate lob after a few minutes nearly put City ahead. He had a header saved and the third chance, a shot from the edge of the box after a cross by Bonner was well saved by the keeper. I did'nt think he'd get to it but he kept it out. City though gave the goals away, Hallworths error as I mentioned above cost us the first goal. If we had gone in 0 - 1 at half time and then came out like we did in the first half we may have been OK. But with seconds on the clock before half time the defence let Luton straight through. Hallworth was powerless to stop this goal as the ball was placed into the corner. Game over from then. When have we come back to win a game from 0 - 2. City kept plugging away but it was like watching a slow old machine churning away. Same tactics every time, pass the ball around finally lump it forward or give the ball away. Same old stuff. Richie again tried but got no reward in the second half. Nugent was appalling today, did not create a chance. Their centre backs had him well covered. Low again was trying hard but he is still raw. Legg was my man of the match allways willing and looked a class above the rest of them. City gave away a third with a poor clearance, again the striker ran straight through the middle unchallenged to make it 0 - 3. Cardiff pulled one back at the end when the only real fluid move of the game for them saw a few quick fire passes and one twos put Bowen clear and he finished well. His only contribution after being poor after he came on. Very poor support for the players today, I dont blame the fans, it was hard to take. Something has to change and quick. Frank Burrows showed little emotion as he went straight down the tunnel after the whistle, no acknowledgement to the fans at all. |
