City leapt 4 places to 7th in Div 3 after a hard fought win over Darlington tonight.

Rob Earnshaw stole in to score the first after 5 mins and City were in top gear as they threatened to swamp the Quakers. For the first half an hour City were in total control. Darlington though started to claw their way back. A shot off the inside of the post was followed by an effort into the side netting and a classic curling shot off the crossbar all served to warn City that the game was not yet won.

There was a mass brawl just after half time but the referee clamed it down and made no bookings. The game opened up with City allowing Darlington a lot of space in midfield but the visitors never really threatend the City goal again. It was quite a physical game at times sometimes niggly. But the entertainment value was high and City to a man battled well and unlike previous games where they have lapsed they actually stepped up again and were rewarded with a late goal to consolidate the win. Josh Low fought well on the right and crossed for Leo FW to lay the ball to Kevin Evans, the 20 year old made no mistake, burying the ball into the corner.

After the win last Saturday and another one tonight its good to see the players working for each other and showing committment. Again City impressed in the stats department, 16 efforts on goal to Darlingtons 7. 10 of City's efforts on target. A creditable night for Alan Cork and the players as well as the fans, over 5,400 and plenty of noise from the Bob Bank as well.

Next up Chesterfield, 14 points ahead of City and 7 points clear at the top. Now that sounds like a cracker.
