| Fri 20th Oct 2000 - Cork on look out for assistant | |

Sam Hammam has given Alan Cork his full backing and is urging City fans to
do the same. Hammam met several fans last night and re enforced the line that Cork is
boss. They are actively looking for an assistant to Cork. First choice was Robbie Earle
but the 35 year old Wimbledon player wants to stay at Selhurst Park and further his
coaching career there. Cork says he has several names on a list and hopes to make an appointment by next week. Cork is also hoping to make some player signings as well. George Wood remains goalkeeping coach. This news rather casts doubt over the speculation yesterday that Steve Coppell was about to take over the managers chair at Ninian Park. Coppell said today "Nobody from Cardiff City or its owner Sam Hammam has spoken to me about the subject of the club and its curent position". Cork will be in full control at Ninian Park for the first time tomorrow when City entertain Mansfield. |
