Alan Cork takes charge at Ninian Park for the first time on Saturday. Cork
will be hoping for only a second home win this season. With another game at Ninian Park
next Tuesday against Darlington it is an ideal time to kick start the season and get over
the Ninian hoodoo. City will select from the same squad that picked up a point at Carlisle earlier in the week. There was much critisism over the positions certain players played in on Tuesday. First half especially. Cork has intimated he may use a 3 - 5 - 2 system with players encourage to pass and play. The papers this afternoon suggest he is thinking about possibly playing Andy Legg as a sweeper behind a central pairing of Gabbidon and Young. Cork must, whatever he does, ensure his players are focussed and know their roles, in the last two matches the players have been all over the place in the first half and in both games have gone two goals down. I cannot begin to guess at a possible line up but woud not expect too much change from Tuesday. The squad available is. Walton, Hallworth, Low, Brazier, Young, Gabbidon, Legg, McCulloch, Hill, Bonner, Earnshaw, Nugent, Fortue West, Brayson, Eckhardt, Nogan, Bowen. City are still missing Dave Greene who finishes his suspension tomorrow. Andy Thompson is expected to return to training next week, with Willie Boland hopes to get back to training soon after that. Russell Perrett is resting after his muscle fibre injury and Jason Fowler is being treated for an under active thyroid. gethin Jones is recovering from his broken leg. Visitors Mansfield boast the divisions top scorer so far, ex City loan player Chris Greenacre is in great form with 8 goals already. Jon Fortune, the stags defender is the nephew of our Leo. We have to start winning at home. Two games at Ninian park in the next 4 days must yield 6 points. We are not out of it yet and consistency and stability must now take over from the random form we have been showing. Ninian Park Saturday 3:00pm. See you there. |
