City travel to Oldham on Saturday for another crucial match is City's bid to avoid relegation. Oldham themselves have suffered with relegation woes over the last few years. In 1992/93 and 1993/94 they were a Premiership team, but they were relegated to Division 1 and lasted three seasons before dropping to Division 2 where they have remained since. The season they were relegated from the Premiership saw the Latics in the FA Cup semi final against Man Utd A tie they lost after a replay. Their goalkeeper in those days was Jon Hallworth who played many games for Oldham and was in goal at Wembley for them when Mark Hughes scored a late equaliser in the Cup semi final for Man U, United then went on the win the replay. Now several years later those heddy days are just memories and Oldham are a mid table Div 2 team. Hallworth is of course City's keeper but he is out injured for the rest of this season and will have to watch the game on Saturday from the stands.

Oldham is quite an easy place to get to. Exit at Junction 20 of the M62. Follow the sign for Oldham. At the end of the A627(M) branch off to the left. With McDonalds on your left Boundary Park will be in view.

The Latics these days are managed by former player Andy Richie. Their most famous manager of recent times was Joe Royle who managed them for 12 years from 1982 - 1994. Since then Graham Sharpe and Neil Warnock have been in control until Richie took over in 1998.

With Division 2 status already assured for Oldham City will be facing a team with nothing but pride to play for. Lets hope our need for points is enough incentive to come away from Greater Manchester with 3 points.
