Reports from the press this morning claim that Andy Marriott is flying to Cardiff today to meet Bobby Gould and discuss a possible move to Ninian Park. Sunderland boss Peter Reid has confirmed he has accepted a £300,000 offer from Cardiff. It is suggested that Bristol Rovers could also be interested but City's offer is the only one accepted by Reid.

Reid said “There have been a couple of firm inquiries for Andy but Cardiff are the club we have agreed a fee with,” said Sunderland manager Peter Reid.

“Andy is flying down to have a look at the area and have a further chat with Bobby Gould.

“I don’t really want to lose him. He’s been terrific for us in the reserves lately and ideally I would like to have three top-class ’keepers.”
