This Saturday City face Kidderminster at Ninian Park. With Kiddy newly promotoed to the football league it will be a great occasion. Jan Molby has performed miracles and is enjoying a successful start to the league season. The Harriers are level on points with City and last Saturday they took away Orients unbeaten record. City remain the only unbeaten team in Division 3 and a bumper crowd is expected to hopefully see Cardiff make it three wins in a row and keep our own good start going. With our strikers finding the target on a regualr basis it will be a great match. City have Paul Brayson, Kevin Nugent and wonderkid Rob Earnshaw on 3 goals each and record signing Leo Fortune West with one goal after making two substitute appearancees. Bobby Gould is looking to bring in more signings this weeks with Andy Marriott allegedly in talks in Cardiff today he could be another £300,000 capture. There is much speculation over Jason Price from Swansea and Simon Haworth from Wigan. Price is allegedly a £400,000 target and rumours of figures upto £800,000 for Haworth. There was another rumour appearing last night night that Bobby could be looking at Christian Edwards from Notts Forest. Edwards has been linked to City several times before, Frank Burrows was interested in the former Swansea player. The buzz at Ninian Park at the moment in amazing. Who could have imagined we would have been making record signings and looking good for the future. Sam Hammam promised the resources if we did our bit with the support. He's not let us down and we must not let him down. make the effort. Lets get a 10,000 crowd this weekend, a third win on the trot would boost the team and the fans and as Sam has said any crowds over 7,000 would make even more money available for players. Report from TotalWales. Ill be very surprised if Cardiff dont go straight back up. If we finish a point behind them Ill be well pleased, said Molby who brings his Kidderminster Harriers side to Ninian Park on Saturday. I dont know much about Bobby Gould, what hes like as a manager or a coach? But what I do know is that with people like Billy Ayre and George Wood around you, youve always got a chance of success. They are really good footballing people youd like to have inside your club. Billy was my No 2 at Swansea. I didnt know him but he was highly recommended. He was everything people said he was - and more. He works very hard and knows the game inside out. Whenever Bobby wants advice, Billy will be there to give it to him - and a piece of his mind if he feels he needs to. Thats the way Billy is. Molby, who inspired Harriers to become Nationwide Conference champions in his first season in charge, wasnt surprised when Gould took charge of team affairs. Once Sam Hammam bought the club I think we all felt there might be a change of manager, said the former Liverpool and Denmark playmaker. It was unfortunate for Billy. But hell take it on the chin and get on with the job. Whether hes No 2 at Cardiff or a manager in his own right hell do a super job. Dont be surprised if Billy becomes a manager again somewhere, sometime. Hes got what it takes to be No 1. Molbys men are intent on completing a winning double by breaking Citys undefeated record a week after ending Leyton Orients unbeaten run. Cardiff are now the only unbeaten side in Division Three. We would like to take their record but are well aware how tough its going to be, he said. They are a good side with some big, strong physical players. They can also play good football if you allow them. It will probably be our sternest test so far. Sam Hammam has already spent a fair bit on team strengthening and looks likely to be spending more. Money doesnt guarantee success but it certainly helps. Good luck to the people who spend it. Its a case of being in the right place at the right time. We dont have that kind of money at Kidderminster, although I could possible add to my 19-man squad if I find a player I feel could strengthen the squad. The chairman (Welsh furniture millionaire Lionel Newton) and I have built up a trust over the last 12 months. Molby is aware of the publicity surrounding striker Robert Earnshaw, a rising star Gould reckons could boost the Wales World Cup squad. Earnshaw has burst on to the scene and is keeping record-signing Leo Fortune-West on the subs bench. But competition is so strong he will have to play consistently well to keep his place in the side, said Molby. Leading Wales bookmakers Jack Brown have quoted 19-year-old Earn-shaw at 10-l to join Coventry City this season and 100-l to join Manchester United. |
